Applications are now open for you to join Change Lab; an innovative year long programme for students interested in making change happen through activism, community organising or campaigning.
Change Lab will establish a community of like-minded students, professional campaigners, local activists, and academics, who will train and work together to test different approaches for creating positive change. You need no previous experience to take part, just a strong drive and the potential to develop the sort of analytical thinking, communication, commitment and organising skills needed to make change happen.
‘Students have a proud history of being at the forefront of change’ says Claire Arthur, the SU’s Campaigns Coordinator, who initiated the project. ‘Change Lab has been designed to support and develop the skills of students who want to play an active role in issues of social justice. It’s about connecting people who see ways the world around them can change and offering the structure of a training and development programme to help guide that collective effort.’
Change lab begins with two induction training sessions on Wednesday 24th & 31st October but students must apply to join Change Lab before 6pm Wednesday October 10th.
Claire added ‘You might look back on your Change Lab experience in years to come and see it as something that helped shape how you saw your personal ability to influence things for the better, or a time you made lasting friends. All you need is passion and the drive to stick with it across a year.’
